This was the house of my maternal grandmother's brother who was the Parish Priest da Matriz da Ribeira Grande for 46 years. Padre Evaristo Carreiro Gouveia

In 2007, on the 50th Anniversary of his death, the town paid him homage in gratitude for his complete dedication to the people of his parish and unveiled this bust in the church garden in his memory.  (See my page dedicated to the ceremony of that day.)
